Most collectors complete steps 1–4 in a single afternoon. We handle everything after that.

    Assess before you submit

    A pre-submission assessment confirms which coins are strong candidates and which are better kept raw. This is the single biggest way to avoid wasted fees.

    Choose the right form

    PCGS uses two downloadable forms — one for U.S. coins, one for Canadian & International coins. Both are below; if you have both kinds, use both. NGC, PMG and CGC don't use PDFs at all: each has its own online submission form, which we complete under our dealer account so you don't need a membership of your own. NGC takes coins, tokens and medals; PMG takes banknotes; CGC takes comics and collectibles. Every service sets its tier by fair market value and the turnaround you choose — CGC also factors in a comic's publication date.

    Complete the form

    List each coin with its date, mint mark, denomination and declared value, and select a service level. Not sure what to put? We walk you through every line.

    Email us the form

    Send the completed form to info@canadiancoinsandcollectibles.com. We review it, confirm pricing and send you shipping instructions.

    Ship your items securely

    Follow our packaging guidance — individual flips or sleeves, rigid box, nothing loose — and ship with tracking to the declared value. We confirm receipt the day your package arrives.

  6. 6

    Grading & return

    We submit to PCGS, NGC, PMG or CGC under our dealer account, monitor status and notify you of the results. Your authenticated, graded and sealed items are returned to you with tracking.

We accept NGC coin submissions with the same careful, start-to-finish handling as PCGS, PMG submissions for banknotes and paper money, and — as a CGC Authorized Dealer — comics, trading cards and other collectibles for CGC grading. Banknotes go to PMG.

Paper Money Guaranty grades and encapsulates paper money the way PCGS and NGC do coins, and we submit on your behalf the same way — correct form, proper packaging, tracked in both directions. Canadian chartered banknotes, Bank of Canada issues, Dominion notes and world paper are all eligible. Tell us what you have and we will advise on service level and declared value before anything ships.

Understanding grades

What the numbers on a PCGS label mean.

PCGS grades on the 70-point Sheldon scale. These are the ranges collectors of silver and gold encounter most often.

MS/PR 70PerfectNo post-production imperfections at 5× magnification. Rare for vintage issues, common for modern bullion and proofs.
MS/PR 65–69GemExceptional lustre and strike with only minor, well-hidden marks. The premium tier for most collector coins.
MS/PR 60–64Mint StateNo wear, but visible contact marks, hairlines or weak areas of strike.
AU 50–58About UncirculatedTrace wear on the highest points only; most original lustre remains.
XF / VFCirculatedLight to moderate wear with full or nearly full design detail. Often the sweet spot for scarce early Canadian silver.
DetailsProblem coinAuthentic but cleaned, damaged or environmentally affected. Assessment first helps you avoid this outcome.

Before you ship.

How long does PCGS grading take?

Turnaround depends on the service level you choose and PCGS's current workload — in practice, it often takes up to four months. We'll give you the current estimate for your tier when we confirm your submission, and keep you updated as it progresses.

How is the cost calculated?

All four services price per item and by tier. PCGS sets its fee from the service level and the coin's declared value; NGC does the same using fair market value and the turnaround you choose; PMG prices each note the same way; CGC also factors in a comic's publication date. Return shipping is added on top. We're happy to give you a ballpark estimate up front; the final figure can move with a number of variables, so contact us if you'd like to talk through the details. Either way, we confirm the total with you before anything is submitted — there are no surprises.

How should I package my coins?

Each coin in its own inert flip or holder, never loose or touching. Place them in a rigid box with padding so nothing shifts, then ship with tracking. We send detailed instructions with every confirmed submission.

Can I submit coins already in another company's holder?

Yes — PCGS offers crossover services for coins in other holders. Tell us the minimum grade you'd accept and we'll note it on the submission.
